Democrat Nate McMurray and Republican Becky Wydysh, candidates for New York's 145th Assembly District, outlined differing views on public safety, tourism, affordability and environmental issues in an interview with Spectrum News. Their district includes Niagara Falls and parts of Niagara County, as well as Grand Island in Erie County.

The candidates expressed some common ground on data centers but differed in emphasis. Wydysh said communities should assess a facility's size, water source, environmental impacts and financial benefits before deciding whether to support it, and said New York's moratorium provides time to develop appropriate regulations. McMurray said a data center should never be located in downtown Niagara Falls. Both candidates also discussed Western New York radiological contamination and potential environmental legislation.
