Google has announced a significant investment of $500 million to construct a new data center in Allen County, Ohio, specifically in the Lima area.
Economic development officials confirmed the investment, which will include $50 million dedicated to upgrading local infrastructure such as wastewater systems, water supply, and roads. This investment is part of a 15-year tax abatement agreement between Google and the county.
Under the agreement, Google will also contribute $250,000 annually to the Elida Schools for 15 years. The project is anticipated to create hundreds of construction jobs and 50 permanent positions. The Lima facility is intended to support Google's growing needs for its search engine, Gmail, and AI systems.
