DC Blox, a Georgia-based developer, is proposing to construct a $2 billion data center campus on the east side of Indianapolis, near South Kitley Avenue and the Pennsy Trail. The ambitious project is slated to feature three buildings and is expected to consume up to 78 megawatts of electricity, supported by 56 backup generators.

The developer is seeking a use variance for the property, a standard procedure in Indianapolis for data center developments as they are not currently permitted under existing zoning classifications. The proposal will first be reviewed by a hearing examiner for the Metropolitan Development Commission on June 11 at 1 p.m. in the City-County Building.

During the hearing, representatives from DC Blox will present details of the project, and community members will have the opportunity to share their comments. Following the hearing, the examiner will issue a recommendation to either approve or deny the petition. The final decision rests with the full eight-person Metropolitan Development Commission.
