Yankton County commissioners do not pass data center moratorium
Yankton County commissioners again declined to approve a moratorium on data centers. Instead, they voted 4-0 to schedule a public hearing on the issue later this month. This follows a previous delay for procedural reasons.
Yankton County Commissioners have once again postponed a decision on a data center moratorium, voting 4-0 to schedule a public hearing for later this month instead of approving the measure directly. The moratorium was initially introduced at a previous meeting but was delayed due to procedural issues. During the Tuesday, July 7, meeting, at least one commissioner voiced frustration that the agenda item was set to schedule a hearing rather than move forward with an immediate vote on the moratorium itself. A motion to impose the moratorium at the meeting did not pass.
