Kentinians will have an opportunity to speak directly with state lawmakers at a data center listening session Thursday at the Capitol Annex in Frankfort. The meeting follows opposition to data center proposals in communities across Kentucky, where residents have raised concerns about electricity demand, utility bills, water consumption, noise, land use and local infrastructure.

Rep. Adam Moore of Lexington, who organized the session, said he hopes public testimony will push the Kentucky General Assembly to establish stronger guardrails for data center and artificial intelligence development. Moore supports revoking sales tax credits for data centers and creating ratepayer protections so residents do not bear the cost of new power demand. The session is open to the public and is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
