Hudspeth Data Center community meeting
Server Dome Global held a community meeting about its proposed $15 billion Waco Ranch data center project in Hudspeth County. Residents criticized the project for being developed with little public notice and raised concerns about water use, gas-powered electricity generation, pollution, infrastructure, and impacts on the nearby ecosystem.
Server Dome Global CEO Keegan attended a community meeting about the planned Waco Ranch data center in Hudspeth County and apologized for the company’s limited communication with residents. The project, reportedly in development for several years and valued at roughly $15 billion, is expected to use on-site gas-powered generation, closed-loop cooling, and water from a private aquifer.
Residents said they moved to the area for its quiet, rural character and questioned whether the company’s aquifer and cooling systems could affect surrounding water supplies, plants, wildlife, and the ecosystem near Hueco Tanks State Park. Community members and the news anchors also questioned how the project advanced without broader public awareness, whether local and state officials reviewed the plans, and how gas deliveries, emissions, road impacts, and potential tax abatements would affect the region.
