Knox Twp. supervisors place moratorium on development of data centers
Knox Township supervisors unanimously voted to enact a 180-day moratorium on data center development within the township. This decision was made as the county is currently preparing a new subdivision and land development ordinance. Residents also voiced concerns about the condition of local roads and alleys during the meeting.
The Knox Township supervisors in Pennsylvania unanimously enacted a 180-day moratorium on data center development during a recent meeting in Knoxdale. This temporary halt comes as the county is in the process of preparing a new subdivision and land development ordinance (SALDO), which the supervisors plan to review for potential adoption by the township once completed later this year.
Several township residents attended the meeting, raising concerns about the poor condition of local roads and alleys. Chairman Douglas Ferguson acknowledged these concerns, stating that work is underway on some roads and others will be addressed as resources allow. The supervisors also clarified that general funds must be utilized after liquid fuels funds are depleted.
In other business, the supervisors approved paying off an $11,000 loan on a township truck to save costs and announced the purchase of a new case wheel loader. They also decided to sell an unused 1980 or 1982 Ford tractor. The next supervisors' meeting is scheduled for August 12 at 6 p.m. in the firehall.
