A large data center project proposed for Westlake, Texas, is causing significant concern among residents in the adjacent city of Keller. The planned "Circle T Data Center" will span 3.83 million square feet on 87.96 acres near Highway 377 and Westport Parkway, with buildings set back 1.1 million square feet from the property line of the project site.
Keller residents, including Kevin Myers, expressed worries about potential noise, health impacts, and decreased property values due to the data center's proximity to their homes. Myers learned of the project via social media, and Keller Mayor Ross McMullin stated that neither he nor the city council were aware of the development before its public announcement, despite Westlake's claim of having discussed it with Keller officials a year prior.
Westlake officials stated that the project will comply with noise ordinances (49-56 decibels) and safety standards, with the developer installing a landscaped berm and mature vegetation along Highway 377 and the southern property line to screen the site and dampen sound. The closest Keller residence is reportedly 506 feet from the building line. Hillwood, chaired by Ross Perot Jr., owns the property.
Keller is encouraging its residents to attend Westlake's Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on August 4, 2026, at 5 p.m., where site plans for the project are expected to be discussed and potentially approved.
