Hamawy, ahead of Election Day, is predicting good results for Democrats
New Jersey congressional candidate Adam Hamawy campaigned against a pending air-quality permit for a Bloomberg-linked data center being built in South Brunswick, near Princeton. He cited climate and energy-cost concerns and endorsed a proposed federal moratorium on new data center development.
Adam Hamawy, the Democratic nominee in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District, said he expects strong Democratic results in the upcoming election and outlined opposition to data center expansion. During the campaign, Hamawy canvassed with Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman and environmental activists to encourage public comments against a pending air-quality permit for a Bloomberg-linked data center under construction in South Brunswick, which neighbors Princeton.
Hamawy said data centers could increase climate impacts and energy costs while communities remain insufficiently informed about projects. He also backed a moratorium introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders that would pause data center development while lawmakers develop regulatory safeguards, though he acknowledged he did not yet have specific policy proposals of his own.
