Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent letters to 156 data center developments in 32 counties demanding accurate, current water-use information. The letters are part of an ongoing statewide investigation into facilities that did not respond to a Texas Water Development Board survey, but no specific violations or enforcement actions were announced.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that his office sent letters to 156 data center developments across 32 Texas counties, including Nacogdoches County, seeking accurate and up-to-date water-use information. The action follows an investigation launched in September into facilities that failed to respond to a Texas Water Development Board survey covering major water users.

The survey is used in Texas' long-term water-demand projections and targets operating data centers that use more than 10 million gallons annually. The Attorney General's Office did not identify the developments that received letters, disclose their individual water use, or announce enforcement actions. The investigation remains ongoing as state officials address low participation and growing concerns about data centers' effects on water supplies.
