A group of about 40 people, including Port Washington Mayor Ted Neitzke, recently toured the Vantage Data Centers Lighthouse Campus in Port Washington, Wisconsin, marveling at the colossal size of a 550,000-square-foot building under construction. The facility, described by Mayor Neitzke as a "gigantic warehouse" that will be filled with servers and computers, is part of a larger 2.5 million-square-foot campus.
Spencer Myers, vice president of construction for Vantage, stated that the company expects to begin turning over the four data center buildings to Oracle and OpenAI, the future occupants, starting in late 2027. The $15 billion project is currently 20-25% complete, employing 2,800 to 3,000 workers daily, making it Wisconsin's largest construction endeavor. The tour highlighted the rapid progress, with concrete foundations poured in January and steel framework completed by May for the building in question. The campus will feature a closed-loop cooling system, and local contractors are being utilized for various aspects of the construction.
