Geronimo Power CEO Discusses Planned Data Center in Harmony Township, North Dakota
Geronimo Power CEO Blake Nixon said the company is planning a data center in Harmony Township west of Fargo and has submitted its permit application. The project would include power generation developed with a local utility, while township zoning decisions and prior board member conduct have drawn scrutiny.
Geronimo Power CEO Blake Nixon discussed the company’s planned data center in Harmony Township, west of Fargo, during the Plain Talk podcast. He said Geronimo has submitted its permit application and intends to provide its own wind and solar generation while partnering with a local utility whose costs would be covered through customer tariffs.
The project has faced scrutiny over zoning ordinance changes approved by a former Harmony Township board chairman who had entered a land purchase agreement with Geronimo. Nixon defended the company and said officials followed legal guidance. He also supported potential North Dakota requirements such as transparency in dealings with public officials and reclamation bonds for data center facilities.
