Towns at Naper Commons project proposed at failed data center site
Pulte Home Company is proposing 262 townhomes at 1960 Lucent Lane in Naperville, a site where a data center proposal was rejected after public criticism. The Naperville Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the housing project, including a rezoning from ORI to R2, but the City Council still must make the final decision.
Pulte Home Company is seeking approval to build 262 townhomes on a 40.87-acre vacant property at 1960 Lucent Lane in Naperville. The site previously housed some Nokia operations and was the focus of a rejected data center proposal that drew widespread public criticism before the City Council voted it down in January.
The Naperville Planning and Zoning Commission voted 6-3 to recommend Pulte's Towns at Naper Commons proposal, which requires rezoning the property from office, research and light industry to residential. Commissioners raised concerns about losing commercial land and the project's reduced number of parkway trees, while supporters said the development aligns with the city's master plan and housing needs. The City Council is expected to consider the petition at a future meeting.
