Kickball tournament to raise money for data center, landfill opponents

The Lackawanna Citizens' Overwatch Project is organizing a "Protect Our Valley Kickball Rally" fundraiser in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, to support local grassroots groups fighting data center developments and a landfill project. The event, scheduled for Saturday at Sherwood Park, aims to raise money for Stop Archbald Data Centers, Stop Olyphant Data Centers, and Friends of Lackawanna, a landfill opposition group.
Aline Browning, a Dunmore resident and founder of the Overwatch Project, highlighted the constant stress faced by residents in their 24-hour battle against developers, noting the lack of resources beyond their collective will. She initiated the project due to concerns over a cancer cluster at a former plant in Olyphant, which subsequently led to her involvement in data center opposition over soil contamination issues. Proceeds from the kickball tournament, inspired by her late father's involvement in similar fundraisers, will be split among the opposition groups, with a particular emphasis on supporting the Olyphant movement's future legal fees.
