Economic leaders eye 423-acre Delhi Township site for data center development
Economic leaders are exploring a potential $10 billion data center on a 423-acre site in Delhi Township near Holt. The Lansing Economic Area Partnership has an option to buy the property and is working with Lighthouse Sustainability, but no end user or land-use application has been identified, and the township says it was not involved in the announcement.
The Lansing Economic Area Partnership is exploring development of a data center at the 423-acre Holt Economic Opportunity Park on College Road in Delhi Township. LEAP has received a $6.5 million state grant to prepare the site and holds an option to purchase it. Lighthouse Sustainability has been identified as a potential developer, although due diligence is still underway and no data center application or end user has been announced.
Lighthouse Sustainability CEO Gary Dorris said the proposed project could use 100% clean energy and a closed-loop water system, while generating an estimated $54 million in annual tax revenue and creating a $20 million community investment fund. Delhi Township Manager Tracy Miller said township officials learned of the proposal through the public announcement and emphasized that no proposal is currently under consideration. The township enacted a one-year data center moratorium in April, which project leaders said they would respect.
