The informational session is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, at the Hotel Mead Resorts & Convention Center, offering residents an opportunity to meet project representatives and pose questions about the development's local impact.
This in-person event follows four online webinars hosted by PNK Group in August, which aimed to address local concerns regarding the proposed data center's power and water consumption, noise mitigation strategies, and potential job creation. The developer has emphasized the use of a closed-loop cooling system to minimize environmental effects.
The open house precedes a public hearing set for September 16, where the Wisconsin Rapids Planning Commission will discuss the project's site plan and evaluate a conditional use permit. This permit is a requirement under existing city zoning ordinances for the development, which proposes to construct a multi-building data center campus spanning approximately 670,000 square feet on nearly 209 acres of former paper mill property.
