Vienna trustees voting Monday on data center zoning
Vienna Township trustees are scheduled to vote on proposed zoning regulations governing data centers at a special meeting on Oct. 26, 2026. The meeting follows a public hearing and comes as the township's 60-day extension of a data center moratorium is set to expire, amid concerns about water use, electricity demand and noise.
Vienna Township trustees will meet Oct. 26, 2026, to approve, reject or return proposed zoning language for data centers to the township zoning commission. Trustee Phil Pegg said the special meeting will be held at the township town hall following a public hearing that gathered community feedback on proposed requirements.
The meeting comes shortly before the expiration of a 60-day extension to the data center moratorium enacted by trustees in August. Vienna Township is among several Valley communities weighing restrictions because of concerns about water and electricity use and facility noise, while supporters point to potential jobs and tax revenue.
