Mat-Su Assembly data center proposal hits roadblock with mayoral veto

Matanuska-Susitna Borough Mayor Edna DeVries vetoed a resolution that would have partnered the borough with Terra Energy Center Corporation to market public land for a data center or industrial facility. The borough assembly had previously voted 5-2 to approve the ordinance, but the mayor cited concerns over lack of public vetting of potential sites near Big Lake and Port MacKenzie.
