Venture Global lays plans for data centers next to LNG sites in Cameron, Plaquemines
Venture Global says it is buying large generators and exploring data center development near its LNG facilities in Cameron and Plaquemines parishes. Local officials, including Cameron Parish Police Juror Mark Daigle, said they were surprised by the announcement and concerned about the lack of communication.
Venture Global is positioning sites near its LNG facilities in Cameron and Plaquemines parishes as potential locations for data centers. The company announced plans to purchase large generators that could support data centers and said the sites could eventually provide as much as 10 gigawatts of power capacity.
The announcement does not represent a signed agreement for a data center, according to Venture Global representatives, but is intended to promote the company’s potential advantages to investors and data center developers. Cameron Parish Police Juror Mark Daigle said he learned of the possible development through social media and criticized the company for not informing parish officials before the announcement.
