El Paso Water officials presented to the City Council on Monday, addressing community concerns regarding the water infrastructure planning for Northeast El Paso and the projected water use at Meta's data center site. John Baloo, CEO and president of El Paso Water, stated that the utility does not anticipate Meta's new data center to significantly strain the local water supply. He noted that projections indicate the data center will use approximately 480,000 gallons of water per day, which is lower than the utility's initial expectations for the area.

Baloo reassured city representatives that El Paso Water has a decades-long development plan for the region where the data center is being constructed. He emphasized that even on the hottest days, the data center's operations are not expected to interrupt water service for existing customers. Furthermore, Baloo dismissed concerns about potential contamination, stating that the utility does not expect the data center to compromise the city's water supply. Despite these assurances, El Pasoans have voiced ongoing concerns about the data center's overall impact on local water and energy resources.
