Planning Commission To Give Input On Data Center Ordinance Development
The Tuolumne County Planning Commission is scheduled to provide input on developing an ordinance to regulate data center construction. The commission is not voting on the ordinance yet; a future vote is expected after additional development and public input.
The Tuolumne County Planning Commission in Sonora is scheduled to discuss and provide input on a proposed ordinance regulating data center construction. The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors previously directed county staff to develop the ordinance.
The discussion follows an October 7 open house that drew approximately 75 to 80 people amid growing local and national interest in data center development driven by demand for artificial intelligence technologies. The planning commission will not vote on the ordinance at this meeting; commissioners are expected to consider it at a later date.
