Louisa homeowner’s lawsuit over Amazon data center moves forward in federal court
A homeowner in Louisa County, Virginia, is pursuing a lawsuit against Amazon over a data center construction next to his property. The lawsuit, now in federal court, alleges the construction has caused environmental issues like discolored water and ground disturbance, alongside constant noise and dust, impacting his quality of life.
Austin Newsome, a homeowner in Louisa County, Virginia, has filed a lawsuit against Amazon regarding the construction of a data center adjacent to his property. Newsome claims the massive project has significantly altered his family's quality of life due to issues like discolored tap water, ground disturbance affecting water tables, and incessant noise and dust from construction traffic. He states that the discolored water began after construction started, leading him to distrust his tap water.
Newsome initially filed the lawsuit in Louisa County Circuit Court last August. On July 10th, a federal judge issued a ruling that partially granted and partially denied Amazon's motion to dismiss the case, allowing the homeowner's legal challenge to proceed in federal court.
