The DeSoto County Commission failed to approve a rezoning request for nearly 238 acres tied to the proposed DCIP data center campus near Arcadia after a 2-2 vote. More than 100 residents attended the meeting and raised concerns about impacts on agricultural land, living conditions and the environment, while a larger 554-acre rezoning request remains pending.

The DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners voted 2-2 on a request to rezone nearly 238 acres for the proposed DCIP data center campus near Arcadia, causing the measure to fail. The decision prevents that portion of the proposed 825-acre development from moving forward under the request as presented. More than 100 people attended the meeting, and residents argued that the land should remain agricultural and that the project could negatively affect nearby communities and the environment.

The rezoning request was part of a larger development plan. Commissioners had already approved 34 acres of the project in March, and they are expected to consider a separate 554-acre rezoning request at a future meeting. County staff had raised concerns similar to those voiced by residents, leaving the broader data center proposal unresolved.
