Google and Beale Infrastructure have announced details for a new 506-acre data center campus under construction in unincorporated Tulsa County, Oklahoma. The project includes significant investments in local infrastructure, such as a new electrical substation and water line upgrades, alongside commitments to community engagement and workforce development. This initiative marks a deepening of Google's presence in northeastern Oklahoma.
Google and Beale Infrastructure have revealed plans for a new 506-acre data center campus currently under construction in unincorporated Tulsa County, Oklahoma, situated near the Cherokee Industrial Park, just west of Owasso. The Tulsa Regional Chamber, along with local officials, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting Google's long-standing presence and substantial investments in the state, which have surpassed $15 billion since 2011.
The development includes significant infrastructure upgrades, notably the construction of a new on-site electrical substation funded by Beale Infrastructure, aimed at enhancing the reliability of Public Service Company of Oklahoma's (PSO) transmission and distribution system. Additionally, the project will fund and install 1.5 miles of new water lines and related infrastructure for Washington County Rural Water District #3, providing a more robust water system for local residents.
Google's Public Affairs Manager for Oklahoma, Trystine Payfer, emphasized the project's long-term commitment to Tulsa County's future, focusing on community engagement, energy affordability, responsible water management, and local workforce training. Tulsa County Commissioner Stan Sallee and Owasso Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development President Chelsea L. Feary lauded the investment for creating high-quality jobs, boosting the regional economy, and strengthening America's technology infrastructure.
