Austin Newsome, a resident of Louisa County, Virginia, has begun using a decibel reader to monitor noise levels from an Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center construction site across from his home, which he claims has significantly disrupted his life over the past year. Newsome reports constant 24-hour noise, including a "loud pitch, humming, buzzing noise," and shared video purportedly showing disruptive overnight work on Jefferson Highway.

He also documented instances of large amounts of dust spewing from the construction site, which he said made it difficult to see and drive. Newsome filed a formal complaint with Louisa County, which confirmed receipt and stated that investigators found the dust associated with a utility project within the construction campus. A spokesperson for Dominion confirmed their company was working on a line feeding the AWS campus, completing it within two days.

The county indicated that the construction company implemented dust mitigation techniques and continues to monitor conditions. However, Newsome views these measures as inadequate and is now advising other residents to "fight it, fight it very hard, do everything you can, go to the meetings, pay attention" regarding similar developments.
