Data center cooling company Accelsius expands Austin operations
Austin-based Accelsius is expanding its Northeast Austin liquid-cooling testing lab by 18,000 square feet to support growing demand from AI data centers. The company’s technology is used by operators including EdgeConneX and at Dell Technologies’ Round Rock facility, while EdgeConneX is developing a major campus in Bastrop County.
Accelsius announced an expansion of its liquid-cooling manufacturing and testing laboratory at 8301 Springdale Road in Northeast Austin. The 18,000-square-foot addition is expected to be completed in January and will allow the company to test direct-to-chip, warm-water cooling systems at multi-megawatt power levels for AI data center servers.
CEO John Hewitt said the expansion reflects rising demand for AI data center infrastructure and the need to manage the electricity and cooling resources required by powerful processors. Accelsius, which raised $65 million earlier this year, said its systems are used in data centers across Texas through partnerships including EdgeConneX and Dell Technologies. EdgeConneX is building a more than $1 billion data center campus in Bastrop County, while Dell uses Accelsius systems at its Customer Solutions Center in Round Rock.
