The Metro Council in Moore County, Tennessee held a meeting on Monday night where several key developments were discussed: The council unanimously approved a $5,500 budget amendment to cover legal fees already incurred in the ongoing Gateway project litigation. They also advanced a proposed two-year moratorium on new data center proposals, which will go to a public hearing before the next council meeting in April. Council members questioned whether two years would be enough time if major utility or water system improvements are needed. The council also held a lengthy discussion about a proposed rock quarry on Highway 50, owned by Lynchburg Stone LLC. While the quarry itself is allowed under current regulations, the council debated whether the property should be rezoned industrial or remain agricultural with a special exception. Ultimately, the discussion suggested support for keeping the property agricultural while allowing the quarry operations. Prior to the council meeting, the Moore County Highway Advisory Board voted unanimously to lower the speed limit on Polecat Hollow Road from 45 mph to 30 mph, which the Metro Council then approved.
