Broken Arrow to consider data center moratorium at council meeting Monday
Broken Arrow officials are considering a six-month moratorium on data center construction following a recommendation from the city manager. This decision comes after learning more about data centers and an undisclosed developer's interest in building near the Creek and Muskogee turnpikes.
Broken Arrow city officials are slated to consider a six-month moratorium on data center development during their upcoming city council meeting. City Manager Michael Spurgeon recommended the pause after evaluating information gathered about data centers over the past 6 to 8 months, with intensified review in the last 45 days.
The proposal follows an approach made in April by an undisclosed entity interested in constructing a data center near the intersection of the Creek and Muskogee turnpikes. However, city officials reported that this developer never pursued the project further.
