Google and Intersect announced the Meitner Energy Center, a new data center project located in Gray and Roberts counties in the Texas Panhandle, northeast of Amarillo. Andrew Hart, Google's regional head of data center public affairs, highlighted Texas's innovation and Google's commitment to being a good neighbor through local investments, water and energy resource protection, and community engagement.

Cortnie Hale, president and CEO of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce, expressed excitement about Google's involvement, viewing it as a significant opportunity for Pampa that recognizes the city's potential for innovation and growth. Gray County Judge Chris Porter echoed this sentiment, stating the investment forms a foundation for regional progress and demonstrates confidence in the community's future.

To support construction, Google is developing the Caprock Workforce Hub in Wheeler County, an 800-acre residential facility for up to 3,500 workers, designed to mitigate local traffic and infrastructure impact. The Meitner data center will integrate with Google's global network, utilizing co-located wind, solar, and battery storage systems for dedicated clean energy and advanced air-cooling to limit water usage to domestic purposes. Google also announced a $10 million Texas Water Impact Fund to bolster community water infrastructure and access across the state.
