Walls Residents Push Back on Data Center at Listening Session
Walls residents voiced environmental and development concerns about a possible data center during a town listening session. Mayor Keidron Henderson promoted potential economic benefits, although he said no developer has approached the town and no data center plans are currently in place.
Walls residents pushed back against the possibility of a data center during an Oct. 19 community listening session, citing environmental concerns and fears of rapid development. Mayor Keidron Henderson argued that a data center could bring significant economic benefits while urging residents to keep the debate civil.
The meeting followed a heated Oct. 12 session in which residents demanded greater transparency from town officials. Some residents cited the xAI data center and power plant in neighboring Southaven as an example of the development they oppose, pointing to a related turbine-noise lawsuit and construction traffic complaints. Henderson said he would bring resident feedback to the Walls Board of Aldermen before any major development moves forward, and one additional listening session was scheduled for Oct. 24.
