Jackson Township trustees have unanimously enacted a 12-month moratorium on data centers within their unincorporated community. The vote occurred on May 12 and comes after neighboring Pleasant Township also passed a data center moratorium. Several other local governments in the Columbus region, including the City of Sunbury and Washington Township, have adopted similar pauses on data center development. The moratorium in Jackson Township specifically targets unincorporated areas, though most of Grove City's boundaries lie within the township. This action could affect a planned data center by Texas-based Stream Data Centers off Rensch Road, a project that appears to be partially located in unincorporated Jackson Township. The developer might seek annexation into Grove City for utility access, which would require the city's approval for rezoning and development plans, as data centers are not currently permitted under Grove City's code, according to city attorney Stephen Smith.
