Culpeper residents joined a statewide series of March for Moratorium rallies, with roughly 60 people gathering behind the Reel LOVE sign on Oct. 18. Speakers including Savannah Smith criticized the industrial conversion of local farmland for data centers and the construction of high-voltage transmission infrastructure.

The demonstration called for a statewide moratorium on new data center construction. The protest comes as data center growth becomes a growing political issue, with concerns about the projected expansion of the industry and its effects on communities and energy infrastructure.
