Lysander Town Board voting tonight on temporary data center moratorium

The Lysander Town Board is set to vote on a temporary six-month moratorium on data storage centers following a public hearing. The town's planning board has already recommended the enactment of this moratorium, a move that precedes a local developer's application to build a data center in the area. The developer is currently awaiting state approval for grid connection to power the proposed facility. More than 1,800 Lysander residents have signed a petition expressing their opposition to the growth of data centers. Town Supervisor Kevin Rode has urged residents to focus their comments during the public hearing on the merits of the moratorium itself, rather than the general merits of data centers.
