Bow residents petition town officials for data center moratorium
Bow residents submitted a petition with more than 800 signatures seeking a temporary moratorium on data center applications while the town studies potential environmental, health, electrical-use and financial impacts. The Bow Select Board agreed to hold another public meeting, and the Planning Board is expected to consider the issue in March.
Residents of Bow, New Hampshire, petitioned town officials to temporarily halt data center applications while the community examines their potential environmental, health, electrical and financial impacts. More than 800 signatures were presented to the Bow Select Board, which said it remains open to hearing residents’ concerns and would closely review any future proposal.
Selectboard representative Kip McDaniel said the town has begun discussing changes to its ordinances addressing large electrical use. No formal data center application has been filed, although earlier filings suggested a company was exploring a project with data-center-level power demand. The Select Board agreed to hold another meeting, while the Planning Board is not expected to vote on the matter until March.
