Granbury residents have initiated an unprecedented recall petition targeting four city council members and Mayor Jim Jared amidst growing concerns about a potential data center project. The group, Granbury Grassroots, successfully gathered hundreds of signatures, expressing frustration over what they perceive as a lack of transparency regarding a possible data center development on the 2,000-acre former Knox Ranch property.
Councilman Zeb Alum, one of the officials facing the recall, stated that nothing has been formally presented to the city concerning a data center. He announced plans to use an upcoming special called meeting to clarify misinformation, urging people to seek truth beyond social media narratives.
However, the organizers of the recall petition insist that the issue extends beyond the data center to accountability, demanding the removal of the targeted officials. They argue that if the officials believe they are still capable of serving, they should face an election.
