Omaha’s Urban Core Keeps Developing | Omaha Development News
Omaha's urban core is experiencing significant development, including a new carrier hotel data center for which a building permit has been filed. This facility will serve as a crucial connectivity hub for network operators and cloud services. Additionally, other projects like a public market and affordable senior housing are underway in the city.
Omaha's urban core is seeing continued development, highlighted by a recently filed building permit for a new carrier hotel data center at 508 South 19th Street. This three-story facility, measuring 40,000 to 41,000 square feet, is designed to provide a centralized connection point for network operators, cloud services, and internet service providers in downtown Omaha.
In addition to the data center, other major projects are advancing. Construction on a three-story, 52,000 square foot RiverFront public market, located near Eighth and Farnam streets, has begun with significant grading work. This year-round market is anticipated to open in 2028, offering fresh foods and local goods. Furthermore, Foundation Development is leading a $10 million, 50-unit affordable senior housing project at 1039 Park Avenue, with a building permit also filed.
Local marketing agency Ervin & Smith has acquired a building at 3219 Leavenworth Street, relocating from Aksarben Village. The agency is also a key player in the new Leavenworth Business Improvement District, approved by the City Council in June, which aims to enhance streetscapes and address maintenance in the area. These developments collectively contribute to the increasing vibrancy and continued growth of Omaha's urban core.
