Microsoft scales down plans for Mount Pleasant data center
Microsoft has reduced its planned Mount Pleasant data center campus from nine buildings to seven, along with two utility substations and a storage building. The revised plans will be considered by the Village of Mount Pleasant Plan Commission, while Microsoft says the changes are intended to speed development and increase capacity sooner.
Microsoft has submitted revised plans for its data center campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, reducing the number of planned data center buildings from nine to seven. The project would also include two utility substations and one storage building, with less total square footage than previously proposed.
The Village of Mount Pleasant Plan Commission is scheduled to consider the changes at its next meeting. The village has approved up to 15 data centers on the campus; Microsoft has opened one facility and is constructing a second. The company said the redesign does not represent reduced ambition and is intended to enable faster development and earlier access to additional capacity.
