Illinois lawmakers representing Central Illinois are outlining priorities for the General Assembly’s fall veto session, scheduled for Nov. 17-19 and Dec. 1-3. State Rep. Regan Deering, R-Decatur, identified electronic monitoring, property tax relief and ethics reform as her main concerns, while Rep. Sharon Chung, D-Bloomington, said she wants to advance legislation benefiting families in her district and statewide.

Deering also urged lawmakers to revisit the proposed POWER Act, which would establish requirements for hyperscale data centers related to environmental impacts, water use and energy consumption. As a member of the House Energy and Environment Committee, she said Illinois should determine appropriate requirements for companies while recognizing the potential tax revenue data centers could bring to local communities.
