Residents of Statesboro Place in Loudoun County, Virginia, say construction and ongoing operational noise from nearby data centers have significantly changed their neighborhood. They described months of explosions, heavy machinery and dust during construction, followed by a persistent hum from facilities operated by Amazon and Microsoft. Two centers are active, with two more reportedly planned for operation next spring.

Residents are seeking sound barriers and other mitigation measures, arguing that landscaping has not addressed the noise. Amazon and Microsoft said they are working with residents, homeowners associations and local teams on community concerns. Little River District Supervisor Laura TeKrony said the county should restrict data center development to industrial areas, citing land, water, quality of life and community character alongside the county's significant tax revenue from the industry.
