Another company says DeKalb leaders promised they could build a data center

DeKalb County, Georgia, is facing significant backlash after extending a moratorium on data center developments. Two unnamed companies, along with Shadowbox Studios, claim they were promised the right to build data centers in District 3 by the county's planning department, and have invested millions of dollars over the past three years preparing land near local communities. One developer has filed a $30 million lawsuit against DeKalb County following the extension of the development pause.

Local residents, expressing strong opposition to the projects, attended a Board of Commissioners meeting wearing "No Data Campus" shirts. They are demanding a fully funded, comprehensive independent health and environmental study to assess potential impacts on residents before the county considers any further amendments to allow data center construction. Commissioners did not address the data center projects during the meeting, but a county zoning meeting is scheduled for Thursday.
