Imperial Valley Computer Manufacturing, a company led by developer Sebastian Ruchi, has filed a lawsuit against the Imperial Irrigation District. The suit seeks access to 260 million gallons of Colorado River water annually for a massive AI data center project in the Imperial Valley. This action contradicts Ruchi's previous statements that the project would rely on recycled wastewater, and the Colorado River is currently experiencing a historic drought.

Sebastian Ruchi, a developer and lawyer based in Huntington Beach, is attempting to construct a large AI data center complex in the Imperial Valley, which he claims will require approximately 750,000 gallons of water daily for cooling. Despite previous assurances that the project would utilize recycled wastewater from nearby cities and avoid drawing from the drought-stricken Colorado River, which is the sole source of fresh water in the Imperial Valley, Ruchi's company has taken legal action.

Imperial Valley Computer Manufacturing, Ruchi's firm, recently filed a lawsuit against the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) to gain access to 260 million gallons of Colorado River water per year. This quantity surpasses the annual water needs of 7,000 residents in Imperial County. Ruchi did not respond to requests for an interview, and a lawyer representing the IID declined to comment, citing the ongoing litigation.
