Taylor City Council unanimously approved a proposed data center campus from Big Wood Digital and PowerHouse Data Centers after a contentious meeting attended by supporters and opponents. The campus could span about 664 acres near the city's eastern limits and would require annexation into Taylor.

Under the development agreement, the project must meet a 65-decibel noise cap, use a closed-loop cooling system and provide on-site power generation. Developers also pledged $28 million in community investments. Opponents cited potential ecological and social impacts and said they would continue fighting the project despite the council's approval.
