Palm Beach County to vote on AI data center project near school and community
Palm Beach County commissioners are set to vote on "Project Tango," a proposed AI data center. The project faces significant opposition due to its location near a school and residential area, as well as environmental and health concerns. A previous revised application was denied by the zoning board, and the county recently paused new AI data center applications, though Project Tango is exempt.
Palm Beach County commissioners are slated to vote Wednesday on "Project Tango," a contentious proposed AI data center. The project has drawn significant criticism from area residents concerned about its proximity to Saddle View Elementary and the Arden community, citing potential environmental and health impacts.
Earlier this month, the county's zoning board denied a revised application that sought to expand the already-approved 200-acre site. Separately, commissioners last week enacted a pause on new AI data center applications, though this moratorium does not affect "Project Tango."
County officials anticipate a large turnout for Wednesday's meeting and have designated the Vista Center as an overflow location to accommodate attendees. Public comments will be facilitated from this secondary viewing area.
