The Fulton County Commission unanimously passed a resolution on Wednesday, formally expressing its opposition to development authorities' practice of reducing property taxes to attract data center projects.
This resolution is directed at all development authorities operating within Fulton County, including the Development Authority of Fulton County and Invest Atlanta, as well as those chartered by the county's individual cities.
The commission's move comes as Fulton County undertakes a reassessment of data center property values. Officials are investigating whether the county is losing out on millions in potential tax revenue by undervaluing these expensive developments, which have become a point of controversy across metro Atlanta.
