Taylor County Commission hears from experts, concerned residents on data centers

Speakers addressed common concerns such as water usage and noise, explaining how data centers operate, their pros and cons, and potential management strategies. However, many residents in Taylor County expressed that more action is needed.

Community tensions regarding data centers were evident, with some commissioners expressing interest in a moratorium by the meeting's end, while others requested more time to deliberate. Commissioners indicated that future steps would involve exploring "guardrails" and additional protections for the county. It was confirmed that there are currently no active data center projects pending in Taylor County.
