The Village of Godfrey in Illinois recently approved a six-month extension for its moratorium on data center applications. This decision was made despite no developers having yet approached the village regarding data center projects. Village trustees, including Rick Lauschke and Sarah Woodman, expressed a desire to better understand data centers before permitting their development.
Godfrey Attorney Bryan Dooling was present during the discussion. A general consensus among trustees suggests a future mandate for any data center to be self-sufficient in its power and water requirements. The potential for state-level policy regarding data centers remains uncertain.
