The Dade County Board of Commissioners is moving toward a proposed 90-day moratorium on new data center development in unincorporated parts of Dade County, Georgia. Commissioner Melissa C. Bradford said the pause would allow officials to assess effects on water supplies, electrical capacity, roads, emergency services and public utilities before establishing development requirements.

The Dade County Board of Commissioners took steps toward a 90-day pause on new data center projects in unincorporated Dade County. The proposal, led by District 4 Commissioner Melissa C. Bradford, would temporarily prevent approvals while county officials study infrastructure demands and the potential cost of improvements for taxpayers and developers.

Bradford said the review would examine impacts on water systems, the electrical grid, roads, emergency services and other public utilities. The proposed moratorium would not apply automatically within Trenton city limits and is intended as a temporary review period rather than a permanent ban on data centers.
