Residents addressed the Huntingdon County Commissioners about a proposed data center in the Trough Creek Valley, expressing concern that the facility could contaminate private wells, disrupt agriculture, damage habitat and alter the valley’s rural character. Residents from Calvin and Union Township said their families depend on clean spring water, private wells and farmland.

Save Trough Creek Valley Coalition chairman Jay Ziegler urged officials to reject the project and conduct further environmental studies. Commissioner Chairman Scott Walls said he was not opposed to a data center but wanted developers to explain their plans and ensure safeguards are in place; he said regulation should primarily remain with local municipalities. The coalition plans to hold a community meeting to discuss the proposals and resident concerns.
