Berry Hill Megasite in Pittsylvania County Plans 21 Data Center Buildings Over 15 years
A planned data center campus at the Berry Hill Megasite in Pittsylvania County could include 21 buildings constructed over 15 years. At full capacity, the project could use up to 7 million gallons of water per day and 3,000 megawatts of power, requiring long-term water and infrastructure agreements.
A joint application submitted to state and federal agencies outlines a potential 21-building data center campus at the Berry Hill Megasite in Pittsylvania County. The development, identified with Stack Infrastructure, could create thousands of jobs and be built in phases over 15 years on the 3,500-acre site.
Documents describe the project as the largest on record for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and estimate that full build-out could require up to 7 million gallons of water per day and 3,000 megawatts of electricity. Water would be supplied across state lines from the Danville area, with discussions involving a potential agreement lasting as long as 40 years. Local officials highlighted the region's history of industrial water use while the project's infrastructure needs are evaluated.
