The Ashville Village Council is currently considering a $102 million offer from data center company EdgeConneX to approve the annexation of a 195-acre property for the construction of a data center and natural gas power generation facility.
The village council had previously voted down the annexation, but EdgeConneX has now presented Resolution 06-2026 with additional financial incentives for the village, Teays Valley school district, and local fire department if the annexation and rezoning is approved. The resolution includes a $64 million contribution to the school district for capital improvements, up to $3 million for the fire department, and offers to help fund expansions of the village's water and wastewater treatment plants.
However, the resolution is being voted on as an emergency measure, which would block any future voter referendums on the project. The Teays Valley school board is also being asked to pass a resolution of support for the natural gas power facility as part of the agreement.
